I only just learned about the #memademay challenge last year when I started really diving into the online/IG sewing community. I love the concept and I tried to think about what I wanted this month to mean to me. So here is my pledge:

My goal is to focus on wearing at least 1 piece of clothing I made each day. I want to figure out what areas of my wardrobe need to be filled with new #memade items (which I can already name a few!). I want to explore new combinations of ways to wear my handmade garments.

I have been sewing since I was 9 years old and I have had a partially handmade wardrobe since then! I am so excited about spending a whole month really trying to improve my overall relationship with my wardrobe. I have a LOT of handmade garments, but do I wear them all? No way. Sometimes they become “samples” and I feel like they are too precious to wear on an everyday basis. Now, for my business (@forest.and.thread ) I understand wanting to keep my samples in pristine condition. But for my own fun makes, why don’t I just wear them? I plan to break that habit this month.

Another thing I’m looking forward to is having a reason to put together an outfit and get dressed everyday!

It’s been over a year since I’ve had an out of the house day job. So it’s been over a year since I consistently got dressed! Can’t wait to see how it feels again.

Today’s outfit:

– thrifted Levi’s dyed pink by me

Thank you @sozoblog for created a wonderful and positive challenge to encourage thoughtful making!
