The 241 Jacket is designed to be completely reversible so using 2 colors of the same woven fabric is recommended. The design compliments a variety of fabric weights. Lightweight fabrics result in a more drape-y style and a warm weather jacket. Mid-weight fabrics have a bit more structure to the design and might serve for a cooler Spring or Fall day. When you get into heavier weight fabrics, be careful not to go too heavy as the design is completely in 2 layers of fabric. In terms of difficulty, lightweight and heavier weight fabrics might result in a slightly more difficult sewing experience. Mid-weight fabrics will be the easiest to work with for this pattern.

The fabric requirements listed above include a 5% allowance for shrinkage. Keep in mind that if you are using a printed fabric or a material that must be cut in one direction, your fabric requirements may be higher.

This jacket is sized with extra room for layering, a comfortable drop shoulder, and a slouchy vibe overall. If you want a true jacket fit with a bit more room for layering, choose your true size or size up if you are between sizes. If you intend to wear the jacket open or as a wrap top and you fall between two sizes, size down. The sleeve length is long when not cuffed. Add the optional buttons and button loops to keep your sleeve cuff up securely. Adjust the sleeve length on the pattern piece where indicated if you do not want to cuff your sleeve, but would like a shorter sleeve length.

SIZE SELECTION

Find the size that corresponds closest to your personal measurements in the size chart below. Patterns are designed for a 5’8” (172cm) tall person. The following measurements are needed to determine your size:

BUST | The fullest part of your chest, often times across the apex

WAIST | The smallest part of your torso, directly underneath your rib cage and above your hip bones

HIGH HIP | Starting 3” below your waistline, around the circumference of your hips

LOW HIP | The widest part of your hips, patterns drafted for 8” below the waistline
